How it works
Writing Hangul by hand is the fastest way to remember the letters. Each sheet row shows the stroke order, one model letter, three letters to trace and four empty boxes to write on your own. Pick a set, press Print or save as PDF, and choose "Save as PDF" in the print window if you want a file.
The stroke order rules
- Top to bottom, left to right. Almost every letter follows these two rules.
- Horizontal lines go left to right, vertical lines go top to bottom. Never draw a line upward.
- ㅇ is one stroke, starting at the top and going counter-clockwise.
- Corners are one stroke. ㄱ and ㄴ are each written without lifting the pen.
- Double consonants (ㄲ, ㄸ, ㅃ, ㅆ, ㅉ) are the single letter written twice, each a little narrower.
Writing whole syllables
In a syllable block, write the letters in reading order: first consonant, then the vowel, then the final consonant at the bottom. Each letter shrinks to fit its part of the square, so 한 is ㅎ top-left, ㅏ on the right and ㄴ underneath. Use "My own words" to practice real syllables, like your name from the Korean name generator.

Frequently asked questions
What is the stroke order for Hangul?
Write from top to bottom and from left to right. Horizontal strokes go left to right and vertical strokes go top to bottom. ㅇ is a single counter-clockwise circle starting at the top.
Does stroke order matter in Korean?
Nobody will see your stroke order on paper, but following it makes your letters look natural and helps you write faster. It also matters for handwriting input on phones.
How do I print a Hangul worksheet?
Choose the letters, press "Print or save as PDF", and print. Only the sheet is printed, not the rest of the page. Pick "Save as PDF" as the printer to keep a file.
How many strokes does ㅎ have?
Three: the short mark on top, the horizontal line, then the circle.
